Hi, I'm sure most of you know this all ready, but there is a new jaws out.
Keep having fun, Ray.

It looks good so far. There are still some bugs that I reported several times to FS during the beta test cycle, which have still not been resolved. I'll stress that these issues are unique to 7.1 (never existed in 7.0 or before). Despite the fact that their attention to the feedback forms was apparently less than stellar, the release has come a long way in the past three months and seems, from the first day of use, to be one of the most responsive and stable offerings they've come out with. In addition, the new HTML support should allow users to access some sites that were previously very difficult or impossible to access. That's the analysis after day one.

I won't go above 6, in my oppinion after 6 fs has went down hill, again just my oppinion. They are kind of frustrated at me at work because I refuse to upgrade, but eventually here very soon looks like I'm going to have to because work is making 7 manditory on all computers.

Troy, 7 is not bad. I have to use it at work and no problems really. I also have version 5 on a laptop and it works just as well. Half the features in these new versions I don't even teach. Ahh! love that mac. wait, did I say Mac! sory this after all was a jaws post wasn't it? VoiceOver rules... OopS!

6.2 is by far the best, not counting 3.7, which doesn't work with xp too well.

Post 8 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Monday, 26-Jun-2006 11:55:38

I'm still using 6.2. I have 7, but I just haven't put it on the computer yet. I have heard that there's too many problems with it, so for now, I've decided to keep running 6.2.

You will have no problems with 7.0. 7.1 is impressive in spots also, very impressive in certain aspects actually, but there are still some worrisome points that probably could have been corrected during the test phase.

I think FS does a very good job of deciding what bugs to and not to fix. The dirty little secret about software development is that we know were going to release programs with bugs it's just a matter of our the bugs show stoppers or not, and can people live with them. In my experience while FS's bugs may be anoying like the crappy firefox support in jaws 7 they fix all the show stopping ones, and give me compatibility with the software I need to use at work.

I can't install seven one the windows isntalled is somehow fucked up, but I'm not sure I like seven oen anyway.

while Jaws can be run through a thumb drive, this topic does not belong in accessible electronics. So, I'm moving it to "Geeks are us. Thanks all, and oh, as a side note, I downloaded the enw update, but haven't had a chance to install it yet.

Post 13 by frequency (the music man) on Friday, 30-Jun-2006 2:06:18

I'm pissed at 7.1's installer. They've rapped the windows installer files in some unknown bootstrapper that i can't seem to extract from. I'll be sticking to an earlier version until I figure out how to silently install this version.

Post 14 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Friday, 30-Jun-2006 2:52:47

I'm using 6.2 for the present. I didn't see anything above that that I wanted, except the clipboard stuff, and fs should have put that in a long ways back, plus, I can live without it.

Post 15 by motifated (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 30-Jun-2006 7:56:34

I'm running 7.0 at home and at work. I haven't downloaded 7.1 either place, and I'll need to get an administrator to do it here at work. Some of the software we use is supposed to work better with newer versions of JAWS, but like most of the posts so far, I like the various 6.x versions better than 7. I'll be anxious to see if 7.1 fixes some of the annoyances I found in 7.

Post 17 by rat (star trek rules!) on Monday, 03-Jul-2006 21:35:23

i have jfw 7 and 7.1. it is very good. I've never had any problems, and who ever says fs is doing bad now is not trying anything. get seven or seven point one. it is very good as i said.
